Born in 1963, Nii T. Mills’s artistic skill dates far prior to his Arts degree obtained from KNUST in 1987. He immediately followed his education as a Teaching Assistant at KNUST until 1989, when he refocused his career as a full-time professional Artist. From 1995 to 2005, the Ghana Broadcasting Corporation was graced with his talent, for which he contributed his skill in Set Designing.
Mills often executes his works using oil on canvas, exhibiting his diverse style. His anthropological compositions offer a cropped, but intriguing, window into typical West-African life. His voyeuristic approach lingers his audience towards a separated world, while both his subject matter and controlled impressionistic manner illuminate familiar West-African genre scenes. Mills shows his expansive talent in other works that explore his folklore skill, using schematic symbols designed in an asymmetrical grid-like plan.
Mills upholds his notoriety as a leading contemporary artist of Ghana, contributing his works to countless exhibitions in both Accra and London.
