Born 1970 in Kumasi, Ghana, Agyei Agyeman relocated in Accra where he continued his secondary education at West Africa Secondary School, graduating in 1994. After working with an advertising firm, later teaching, and finally employed by a financial institution, Agyeman abandoned these fields upon entering the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology. In 1997, he obtained his degree in Communication Design.
Despite his eclectic background of careers and practices, he has devotedly occupied a second full-time career in painting since 1994. With his own individual realistic approach, Agyeman considers himself a contemporary artist; his paintings encompass a wide range of subjects from market scenes to city scenes, all depicting everyday situations in colourful and often dramatic scenarios. His works share an overarching revelation of passion and dynamism when interpreting his surrounding culture.
In addition to his popularity within his home country, international collectors have also shown avid interest in his work. Agyeman currently lives and works in Accra.
