Ebenezer Borlabie hails from Nungua a suburb of Accra. Born in May 1981, he had his basic and secondary school education in Accra. In primary school, his inert ability to tangibly express ideas, views, imaginations, forms, and scenes around the household gave birth to the desire to draw. He received encouragement from his immediate ‘audience’ of family and friends, which tremendously boosted that inert ability. He did more drawings with an incredible passion.
A dream and a vision were thus ignited which led to a further pursuit into studying Visual Arts during his Secondary School Education. He also undertook two years diplomat course in Visual Arts (Painting, Graphic Design, and Textile Design) at Ultimate School of Arts, a private art school at Mamprobi in Accra (2000-2001).
His themes embrace all manner of day-to-day activities of man – depicting traditions and beliefs, with both domestic and African settings. He paints in water colour, oil, and acrylic; but most of his works are done in acrylic from one earth colour to the other with the brush and palette knife.
He has his Private Studio at Teshi-Nungua. He also teaches and imparts his artistic knowledge to various people on a part-time basis. His works grace walls of private homes in America, Europe, Asia, Australia, and Africa. His strengths and passion for painting have led to invitations to participate in various exhibitions. He was the first prizewinner of the 2nd edition of the 2005 rapid painting competition organized by the Spanish Embassy.
